1997 Calendar
The Strength and Courage of our Children
Andrew is a junior at Beaufort High School in Beaufort, S.C.
Andrew spent the first three years of his life in and out of hospitals and doctor's offices because of a birth defect. He lost his father at age three. Andrew has overcome these obstacles to become a talented musician. He is a member of the South Carolina 1995 Junior All State Orchestra and is ranked 13th as a violist in the state's Junior Division. He is a member of the Beaufort Chamber Orchestra, Sea Island Youth Orchestra and the Hilton Head Youth Orchestra. He was published in 1994 for the poem he wrote entitled "The Promise". He also performed at the Solo Ensemble String Fistival in Charleston and was rated excellent and superior by the South Carolina Music Educators Association in Februrary of 1995.
"Andrew has overcome physical, psychological and emotional setbacks to strive for the best in everything he sets his sights on," stated Karen Anderson, his mother, who nominated him.
