"Art has always presented ideas that reflect the views of an artist.  These ideas are expressed in a unique form in which only Art can allow.  It is a universal language that is adaptable to many situations.

As an artist, it is my duty to give forth my own ideas in a fashion that will capture the attention and passion of others, and perhaps give them a glimpse into my concience and find somthing they might have overlooked.

As a person, I have formulated many ideas to preserve and better mankind by pointing out our strengths and weaknesses, and by testing ourselves to our absolute ability.

Art is an excellent medium to express the ideas and theories to the world in a passionate way that holds an underlying truth.  Through Art I expect to present my ideas and to influence others to feel likeminded without unnecessary criticism."

The "First Attempt"
Andy's "First Attempt" was this painting of the wren now called "Granny's Carolina Wren".

His "Granny" ('Crackers') is "Sis" (Wright) Anderson, Karen's mom, with whom Andy was exceptionally close. Andy adored her, and she, of course adored him. She first got the nickname "Crackers" when Andy's cousin Artie had trouble pronouncing "Grandma". "It sounded something like "Crackers" - not exactly, but close - and Steve (Andy's dad) started calling her "Crackers" and it stuck." Karen says that even though her parents weren't together then, her dad didn't care for the nickname at all, saying it "sounds disrespectful". But "Sis" didn't mind, so "Crackers" it was!

I'm sure she had fun with it. And as for me - well, I'm not too surprised at the nickname - or the laughs behind it!
The "Faces of Christ"

Andy's 'eye' for expression and his passion for detail is made obvious in these paintings of Christ. His choice of textures and colors reflects his own perspective of Christ's suffering. Each picture creates a different wave of emotion. The boldness of the crucifix amidst the 'softness' of the water color is a combination rarely seen.

The other portrayl has been said to be Andy's 'self portrait'.
